Lazotea
Lazotea is a rooftop cocktail bar positioned on top of a building on Calle 1 in Casco Viejo, offering some of the most unobstructed views in the district. The bar has a 360-degree perspective that takes in the Bay of Panama, the Bridge of the Americas, the modern skyline, and the red rooftops of the old town. The space is relatively small, with maybe 50-60 people at comfortable capacity, which keeps the atmosphere intimate. The cocktail menu focuses on tropical ingredients, local spirits, and seasonal fruits. A signature rum punch or passion fruit daiquiri costs USD 13-16. The bar attracts a slightly older, more relaxed crowd than Tantalo's rooftop party scene. It's a conversation venue, not a dance floor.
What to Expect
A low-key rooftop experience focused on views and well-made drinks. No DJs, no dance floor, no bottle service. Conversations happen easily because the space is compact and the noise level stays manageable. The crowd is usually 28-45, well-traveled, and international.
Breezy, scenic, and unhurried. The kind of place where you order two cocktails and realize two hours have passed.
Background lounge music, tropical chill, and acoustic Latin. Volume stays low enough for conversation.
Smart casual. The vibe is relaxed but polished. No beachwear.
Couples on a date, small groups wanting views and conversation, and anyone who prefers a calm drink to a packed nightclub.

Insider Tip
Come for sunset. The west-facing views catch the sun going down over the canal entrance and the Bridge of the Americas. Arrive by 5:30 PM on weekends to guarantee a sunset spot. The space is small, so late arrivals may wait.
Full Review
The entrance is easy to miss if you don't know the address. A narrow staircase leads up several flights to the rooftop. The climb is worth it. The bar opens onto a terrace with low walls that put the full panorama on display. Seating mixes high-tops along the edges with a few lounge areas. The bar itself is compact, staffed by one or two bartenders who know the menu.
The cocktail program is thoughtful. Tropical fruits, local rums, and fresh herbs dominate. The passion fruit daiquiri is a reliable order. The rum-based house punch is sweet but balanced. Non-cocktail options include a small wine list and the usual domestic and imported beers.
The space fills quickly on weekend evenings, particularly around sunset. Once full, the bar operates a loose one-in-one-out system. Weekday visits are the best way to enjoy the space without feeling rushed. Wednesday and Thursday evenings are pleasant with room to breathe.
The bathroom is one flight down and limited to a single unit, which means a wait during busy hours. Service is friendly and paced to the relaxed atmosphere. Don't come expecting speed; come expecting to slow down.
Compared to Tantalo's rooftop, Lazotea is smaller, quieter, and better for conversation. Compared to Casa Casco's rooftop, it has better views but fewer drink options. It fills a specific niche: the scenic, intimate rooftop drink.
The Neighborhood
Lazotea is a short walk from Plaza de Francia at the tip of the Casco Viejo peninsula. The French Embassy plaza and the seawall promenade (Las Bovedas) are just below. Other bars on the Casco Viejo circuit are within a 5-10 minute walk, making it easy to include Lazotea in a multi-stop evening.
Getting There
Uber to Casco Viejo from the banking district runs USD 4-7 and takes 10-15 minutes. Ask to be dropped near Plaza de Francia or the main entrance to Casco Viejo. The bar is about a 3-minute walk from the main taxi drop-off points.
