Rashomon Club
Rashomon Club occupies a raw industrial space on Via degli Argonauti, just off the main Testaccio nightlife circuit. The venue commits fully to underground electronic music, booking techno and house DJs who prioritize the dance floor over name recognition. The space is stripped back: concrete walls, minimal lighting, and a sound system built to handle heavy bass frequencies. The crowd that finds its way here tends to be local, knowledgeable about the music, and dedicated to dancing rather than socializing. Friday and Saturday nights are the main events, with the club filling from midnight onward. The room is not large, holding maybe 300 people at capacity, which creates an intensity that bigger venues struggle to match.
What to Expect
A dark, compact space where the DJ is three meters from the front row of dancers. The sound is loud and the bass is physical. The crowd is focused and the energy builds steadily through the night.
Raw, intimate, and loud. A proper underground club experience in the middle of Rome.
Techno, house, and minimal electronic music with a focus on underground artists
Whatever you want. This is an underground club, not a fashion show. Dark clothes are common but not required.

Follow their social media for lineup announcements; the programming is inconsistent in quality but the peaks are exceptional. Arrive after midnight to avoid an empty room. Earplugs are worth considering for extended stays.
Full Review
Rashomon isn't trying to impress anyone who doesn't already understand what it's doing. The entrance is easy to miss on Via degli Argonauti, a side street that doesn't get the foot traffic of the main Testaccio strip. Inside, the room is a rectangle of exposed concrete with a DJ booth at one end and a small bar at the other. That's it. The decoration is the sound.
On a good night, Rashomon delivers an experience that Rome's bigger clubs can't touch. The small room creates a feedback loop between the DJ and the crowd that builds intensity as the night progresses. By 2 AM on a strong lineup night, the room is packed, sweaty, and completely focused on the music. The sound system handles the low end well, and the confined space amplifies the physical impact of each kick drum.
On a weak night, the room can feel empty and the atmosphere flat. The venue doesn't have the built-in audience that Goa or the Testaccio strip bars guarantee. Check the lineup before committing, and ask around in Rome's electronic music community for recommendations on which nights to attend.
The bar is basic. Beer and simple cocktails, served quickly because there's not much else to do. Prices are reasonable, even cheap for a Testaccio venue. The crowd doesn't come for the drinks.
The location has a practical advantage: the industrial surroundings mean noise isn't an issue, and the club can push volume without the complaints that plague venues on Via di Monte Testaccio. Getting home afterward is the main challenge, as the area is quiet after 3 AM and transport options require a short walk to the main roads.
The Neighborhood
Rashomon sits on a side street between the main Testaccio nightlife strip and the larger Mattatoio cultural complex. The walk from Via di Monte Testaccio takes about three minutes. Late-night food options are available on the main strip, a short walk north.
Getting There
Metro Line B to Piramide station, then a 12-minute walk through Testaccio. Taxis and Uber from central Rome cost EUR 8-14. The venue is on a quiet side street, so have the address ready for your driver.
