Doppio Zero
Doppio Zero sits on Via Ostiense at the edge of Testaccio, operating as a modern bar-restaurant that transitions smoothly from daytime cafe to evening cocktail spot. The space is sleek and contemporary, with floor-to-ceiling windows, white surfaces, and a long bar that anchors the room. The aperitivo offering draws a well-dressed after-work crowd from nearby offices. Cocktails are well-made, leaning toward Italian classics with occasional creative departures. On weekend evenings, DJ sets bring a lounge-music backdrop that keeps the energy social without pushing into club territory. The food menu covers Italian and international options at moderate prices. Outdoor seating along the street fills in summer.

Insider Tip
The aperitivo (18:00-21:00) is the best value, combining a drink with food for EUR 8-12. Weekend DJ nights get crowded after 23:00. Morning coffee and pastry here is genuinely good if you're staying in the area.
Full Review
Doppio Zero serves a different niche in Testaccio's nightlife ecosystem. While the cave bars and clubs on Via di Monte Testaccio trade on underground atmosphere and bass-heavy music, Doppio Zero offers a cleaner, more contemporary experience. The venue works through the day, starting as a breakfast spot, evolving into a lunch restaurant, and reaching its stride during the aperitivo window.
The space itself is well-designed. The long bar creates a focal point, and the floor-to-ceiling windows let in natural light during the day and create a fishbowl effect at night that makes the venue look busier and more inviting from the street. The DJ booth in the corner activates on weekends, and the music stays at a level that allows conversation.
Cocktails are competently made. The Negroni and Spritz are executed with Italian precision, and the house specials show some creativity without straying too far from crowd-pleasing territory. Wine by the glass is also worth considering; the selection leans toward mid-range Italian options.
The dinner menu is broader than most bar-restaurants, covering pasta, salads, meat dishes, and a respectable pizza. The food is good without being destination-worthy. Think of it as fuel for the evening ahead rather than a culinary experience in itself.
Doppio Zero works best as a starting point. Have aperitivo here, perhaps an early dinner, and then walk the 10 minutes south to the Testaccio club strip for the late-night portion of your evening. The transition from Doppio Zero's polished interior to the raw cave clubs on Via di Monte Testaccio is part of the Testaccio experience.
