Full Review
Empirica's claim to the longest bar in Asia, at 38 meters, is the first thing you notice. The bar stretches the length of the 1,000-square-meter room, with stools along its length and the dance floor opening up beyond. Projection mapping technology covers the walls and ceiling, creating visual shows that sync with the music. The effect is genuinely impressive, especially during the on-the-hour displays from midnight onward.
The crowd is Jakarta's young professional class dressed to a standard that the door enforces. Collared shirts and trousers for men, dresses or sharp separates for women. The dance floor fills from midnight, with the peak energy running until around 2:30 AM. Table service is the norm for groups, with minimums ranging from IDR 2,000,000 to IDR 10,000,000 depending on location and night.
Empirica offers the most dramatic production value in SCBD. X2 has more musical variety, Dragonfly has better dining, but nobody matches Empirica's visual spectacle. The projection mapping sets it apart from every other club in Jakarta and gives it a genuine wow factor that justifies the premium pricing.
Dress code is strictly enforced. Arrive before 11 PM to avoid the queue. The projection mapping shows on the hour from midnight are worth staying for. Table bookings sell out by Friday evening for Saturday nights, so plan ahead. The first drink costs IDR 250,000, which effectively serves as a cover charge.
