Motel Mexicola
Motel Mexicola on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak started as a Mexican restaurant and became something closer to a party destination over the years. The kitchen serves tacos, tostadas, churros, and ceviche from 11:00 daily. After 22:00 the DJ takes over and the restaurant floor turns into a dance area. The tequila and mezcal selection is the best in Bali. Tables fill by 19:00 on weekends, so book ahead or plan to wait.

Insider Tip
Book a table by email ([email protected]) for Friday and Saturday, walk-ins rarely get a table after 19:00. The house margaritas are the best value cocktail option. Stay past 22:00 if you want the DJ and dancing, leave before then if you just want dinner.
Full Review
What started as a Mexican restaurant has become one of Seminyak's defining nightlife experiences. The space is saturated with color: pink walls, paper decorations, mismatched furniture, and a design sensibility that borrows from Day of the Dead iconography without taking itself too seriously. The kitchen serves genuine Mexican food, tacos and tostadas and churros and ceviche, and the tequila and mezcal selection is the best in Bali. Both claims are verifiable.
Daytime is a restaurant. After 10 PM, the DJ takes over and the dining floor transforms into a dance area. The transition is organic: tables get pushed aside, the volume rises, and the crowd that came for dinner stays for dancing. The demographic is stylish, international, and energetic. Tables fill by 7 PM on weekends, so reservations are essential for the dinner portion. The cocktails lean margarita-heavy, and the house version is the best value on the list.
In Seminyak's competitive dining-to-nightlife pipeline, Motel Mexicola has carved a space that nobody has successfully replicated. It's not a restaurant pretending to be a club or a club pretending to serve food. Both halves work independently, and the combination creates something unique on the Petitenget strip.
Book by email for Friday and Saturday dinner. Walk-ins rarely get tables after 7 PM. Stay past 10 PM for the DJ transition if you want the full experience. The agave spirits list rewards knowledge; ask for recommendations if mezcal is new to you.
