Full Review
Kiki occupies a sweet spot in Reykjavik's nightlife. It's themed as a queer bar, and LGBTQ+ travelers will feel genuinely welcome, but it also draws a diverse crowd that comes for the atmosphere rather than the label. On a typical Saturday night, the mix includes local couples, tourist groups, bachelorette parties, and individuals who chose Kiki because the energy is better than the bar next door.
Drag shows are the signature event. Performances happen on a small stage area and the quality varies, but the best performers bring genuine talent and comedy. The crowd participates actively, and the energy during a good show surpasses anything else happening on Laugavegur that night.
The bar area is efficient despite the small space. Drinks are standard Reykjavik pricing. The dance floor fills after the drag shows end and DJs take over, usually around 1 AM.
Compared to Kaffibarinn's intensity or Paloma's club atmosphere, Kiki offers something warmer. People talk to each other. Strangers become friends. For solo travelers or couples looking for a social night without the pressure of a club environment, this is a strong choice.
