El Tunel

El Tunel is Bellavista in concentrated form: cheap drinks, loud music, young crowds, and zero pretension. The underground setting amplifies everything. By midnight on a Thursday, the place is at capacity and the stairs become a one-way bottleneck.
The bar itself is simple. A long counter along one wall handles orders while the rest of the space is given over to standing and dancing. Tables exist in theory but get absorbed into the crowd as the night progresses. The low ceiling traps the heat and the sound, creating an intensity that larger venues can't match.
Drink quality is basic. You're here for pitchers of beer or simple pisco cocktails, not craft anything. The bartenders work fast and don't complicate things. A pitcher of Cristal or Escudo for 8,000-10,000 CLP feeds a table, making this one of Bellavista's cheapest nights out.
The crowd is overwhelmingly Chilean students, which gives it an authenticity that the tourist bars on Pio Nono lack. The music is what they want to hear: reggaeton hits, cumbia classics, and Latin trap mixed at a pace that keeps the floor moving. If you don't like reggaeton, this isn't your place. If you do, it's one of the best rooms for it in the neighborhood.
The Neighborhood
El Tunel is right on Pio Nono, surrounded by dozens of other bars. The street outside is itself a social scene on weekend nights, with vendors, street musicians, and crowds moving between venues. It's easy to bar-hop along Pio Nono and end up here when you're ready to dance.

Metro Baquedano (Lines 1 and 5), walk north across the Pio Nono bridge. The bar is on the right side of Pio Nono, about 3 minutes into Bellavista. Look for the stairs going down.
