Pravda
Pravda on Ferhadija occupies a ground-floor corner space with exposed brick walls, dim pendant lighting, and a bar that takes cocktails seriously. The bartenders here have training and it shows: drinks are measured, shaken or stirred correctly, and garnished with purpose rather than afterthought. The menu changes seasonally, with a core of classics supplemented by house creations that incorporate Bosnian ingredients like walnut liqueur, local honey, and regional herbs. Seating accommodates about 40 people across the main bar area and a small window alcove that's the most sought-after spot on Friday evenings. The crowd skews professional and slightly older than the student-heavy venues nearby. Conversations here are measured rather than shouted, helped by a music policy that treats the soundtrack as background rather than foreground. The name, meaning 'justice' or 'truth,' doesn't carry political weight. It's just a good cocktail bar that takes itself exactly seriously enough.

Sit at the bar to watch the cocktails being made and chat with the bartenders. Ask for the seasonal menu rather than ordering from the standard card. The walnut old fashioned (when available) is exceptional. Reservations aren't taken but arriving before 9 PM guarantees seating.
Full Review
Pravda represents Sarajevo's growing cocktail ambitions. Where most bars in the city serve standard recipes with variable execution, Pravda applies a level of attention that wouldn't be out of place in Zagreb or Belgrade's top cocktail spots. The difference is price. Cocktails that would cost EUR 12-15 in those cities run EUR 6-9 here.
The seasonal menu is the main draw. Recent iterations have featured drinks incorporating Bosnian walnut rakija, mountain honey, and wild herb syrups sourced from producers in the country's central highlands. These aren't gimmicks. The flavors work within properly balanced cocktails that also happen to taste like Bosnia.
The physical space is small enough that the atmosphere depends on who's there. A Tuesday at 6 PM might hold three people having quiet drinks. A Friday at 11 PM fills every seat with a crowd that's animated but contained. The brick walls and dim lighting create the same warmth at both extremes.
Service is a strength. The bartenders ask questions, make suggestions, and adjust drinks to preference without the theater that some craft cocktail bars mistake for hospitality. If you don't know what you want, they'll build you something based on a two-sentence conversation about your taste. This approach creates regulars, and the bar's repeat clientele is the best endorsement of its quality.
Pravda works best as either the centerpiece of a quiet evening or the first stop before heading to louder venues on the same strip. The cocktails reward attention, which means sipping rather than slamming.
