Docksider Pub & Restaurant
Docksider Pub & Restaurant holds down a prime spot at 121 Front Street, right on Hamilton Harbour's edge. The two-story building dates to the 1980s renovation of the waterfront and seats roughly 120 between the indoor dining room and the outdoor patio. The patio is the draw: tables face the harbour, cruise ships dock across the water, and the breeze comes off the sound. The menu covers standard pub fare, fish and chips, burgers, fish chowder (Bermuda's national dish, more or less), and a raw bar with local wahoo and tuna. The bar stocks Bermudian favorites alongside international beers. Goslings rum features heavily, as it does everywhere on the island. Locals treat Docksider as an after-work default on Fridays, filling the patio by 5:30 PM. Tourists drift in throughout the evening. The atmosphere stays conversational rather than party-oriented. Service is friendly and unhurried, matching the general Bermudian tempo. A meal with two drinks runs $50-70 BMD per person.
What to Expect
Walking in from Front Street, you pass through a casual indoor dining area before reaching the waterfront patio. Tables are wooden, unadorned, and arranged to face the harbour. The sound of clinking glasses mixes with harbour noise. Staff greet regulars by name and newcomers with genuine warmth.
Relaxed, conversational, and distinctly Bermudian. The patio has a gentle buzz on weekends without ever crossing into rowdy territory.
No live music most nights. Background playlist leans classic rock and soft reggae. Volume stays low enough for conversation.
Smart casual. Bermuda shorts with a collared shirt fit right in. Flip-flops and tank tops look out of place after sundown.
After-work drinks with a harbour view, casual dinner before a night on Front Street, couples wanting a relaxed waterfront meal.
Cash (BMD and USD accepted at par) and major credit cards. No minimum on cards.
Price Range
Beer $8-12 BMD, cocktails $14-18 BMD, fish and chips $22 BMD, fish chowder $14 BMD

Insider Tip
Grab a patio table before 6 PM on Fridays or you'll be standing. The fish chowder with sherry peppers is worth ordering even if you're only having drinks. Ask for the Dark 'n Stormy made with Goslings Black Seal, not the well rum.
Full Review
Docksider sits at the quieter western end of Front Street, which works in its favour. The location near the Ferry Terminal means you catch foot traffic from commuters heading home, and by early evening the patio fills with a mix of office workers loosening ties and hotel guests who walked over from the Hamilton Princess.
The indoor section is fine but unremarkable. Dark wood, pub decor, a bar with stools. It functions well on rainy evenings or hot afternoons when the air conditioning earns its keep. The real draw is outside. The patio extends toward the water with views straight across to the Royal Naval Dockyard on the opposite shore. Sunset hits the harbour at an angle that lights up the pastel buildings along Front Street.
Food quality is solid mid-range. The fish chowder arrives dark, rich, and properly spiked with sherry peppers and black rum on the side. Fish and chips use fresh local catch when available. The raw bar rotates based on what the boats bring in. Don't expect culinary fireworks, but everything is competently prepared and generously portioned.
Drinks follow the Bermuda standard: everything is expensive. A pint of draught beer runs $10-12. Cocktails start at $14 and climb from there. The Dark 'n Stormy is the move, as it is everywhere on the island. Goslings owns the trademark and Docksider pours it properly.
Service is Bermudian-paced, meaning relaxed but attentive. Servers don't rush you, which is either pleasant or frustrating depending on your expectations. On busy Friday evenings, getting a second round can take a beat. Flagging down staff politely works better than impatience.
For a first evening in Hamilton, Docksider is a solid starting point. Have dinner, get your bearings on Front Street, then walk east toward the livelier bars.
