Sahil Restaurant & Bar
Sahil Restaurant & Bar occupies a waterfront position on Neftchilar Avenue along Baku Boulevard, offering outdoor terrace seating with direct views across the Caspian Sea. The venue operates as both a full-service restaurant and an evening bar, with the kitchen producing grilled seafood, Azerbaijani mezze, and kebabs through dinner service. The terrace seats around 80 guests at tables arranged facing the water, with a covered section for weather protection. The bar serves cocktails, local and imported beer, and a wine list that includes Azerbaijani and international options. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly during early evening hours, transitioning to a more social, adult-oriented scene as families leave and the bar crowd arrives after 21:00. The sea breeze keeps temperatures comfortable on summer evenings, and the sound of waves provides a natural backdrop. The venue has served this stretch of the Boulevard for years, building a reputation for reliable food and a pleasant setting rather than culinary innovation.

Full Review
Sahil Restaurant & Bar does one thing consistently well: it puts you next to the Caspian Sea with decent food and cold drinks. The venue doesn't chase trends or culinary awards. It serves grilled fish, Azerbaijani dishes, and simple cocktails to people who came for the view and the breeze.
The terrace is the only reason to visit. The indoor space is functional but unremarkable. Outside, the sea-facing tables offer an experience that no amount of interior design can match. The Caspian stretches to the horizon, the Boulevard's lights reflect on the water after dark, and the air carries salt and the smell of charcoal from the kitchen. It's the kind of setting that makes average food taste better.
The food is reliable. Grilled sea bass and sturgeon are the kitchen's strongest options, prepared simply with lemon and herbs. The Azerbaijani mezze selection, hummus, baba ganoush, fresh herbs, and warm bread, makes a good accompaniment. Kebab platters are competent without being exceptional. Nothing on the menu will disappoint, but nothing will surprise either.
The drink selection serves the setting. Cold beer on a warm evening by the water is hard to beat regardless of the brand. Cocktails are standard, mixed for refreshment rather than craft. The wine list includes local options worth trying.
Service is attentive during normal hours and stretched thin on busy weekend evenings. Booking a table ensures better treatment than walking in. The staff speak Azerbaijani, Russian, and some English.
The transition from dinner to drinks happens naturally around 22:00-23:00 when the kitchen winds down. The terrace stays open for drinks, and the crowd shifts from families to couples and friends. The later hours are quieter and more atmospheric, with the sea and the distant city lights providing the entertainment.
