- Florianopolis is safer than Rio or Salvador but the surge of out-of-town visitors (3 million during the NYE-to-Carnival period) attracts pickpocketing along Praia Mole and around the bus terminals. Stay alert in dense crowds; avoid driving (drunk-driving enforcement is heavy).

Why Florianopolis Is the Brazilian NYE
Florianopolis hits its summer peak in late December. The Santa Catarina coast is at maximum warmth, the beach club ecosystem at Jurere Internacional concentrates the highest-end Brazilian NYE experience, and around 3 million Brazilians migrate to the island for the NYE-to-Carnival period. Sao Paulo and Rio empty out for Florianopolis during this window. The Brazilian Reveillon (NYE celebration) tradition centers here for the wealthy Sao Paulo and Rio crowd that wants the beach-club product Rio's Copacabana doesn't deliver.
P12 and the Jurere Beach Clubs
P12 Beach Club at Jurere Internacional is the headline NYE party in southern Brazil. International DJ lineup (Vintage Culture, Alok, Cat Dealers are typical bookings), multi-course dinner from 21:00, open premium bar from 22:00, beachfront fireworks at midnight, party until 04:00. R$1,500 to R$3,500 per person depending on the section. Sells out by mid-October.
Cafe de la Musique, Donna, and Taikô line the same 4 km Jurere beach with smaller-format Reveillon packages at R$700 to R$2,500. The Jurere beach itself is free and fills with 80,000 to 150,000 attendees for the public fireworks; the beach clubs occupy the prime central kilometer with their VIP setups.
Praia Mole and Praia Brava Alternative
For the free younger surf-crowd scene, Praia Mole and Praia Brava run their own NYE energy. Praia Mole, the surf beach, draws an alternative crowd to the polished Jurere product; free public fireworks at midnight. Praia Brava is denser, more party-focused, with the beach clubs (Pacha Floripa, Beach Club Praia Brava) running NYE packages at R$400 to R$1,500. Less polished than Jurere but more accessible.
