Seoul Street, Ulaanbaatar

Mint Club is UB's second-largest nightclub, competing directly with Metropolis for the weekend crowd. The venue occupies a basement space on Seoul Street with two distinct dance floors, a main bar, and a VIP section. The main room runs a pop and hip-hop program that draws a young crowd. The second room typically features electronic music or K-pop depending on the night. Total capacity is around 300. The sound system and lighting are a step below Metropolis but still functional for club purposes. Mint tends to attract a slightly younger crowd than its larger rival, with university students making up a significant portion of the weekend attendance. The atmosphere is energetic and the drinking culture mirrors Mongolia's broader patterns: vodka-heavy, group-oriented, and intense.

What to Expect

A smaller, scrappier version of Metropolis with more personality. The main room fills with young Mongolians dancing to pop hits and hip-hop. The energy is raw rather than polished. Vodka flows freely at tables, and the dance floor gets physical in ways that reflect Mongolian directness.

Atmosphere

Young, loud, and charged. Like a university party with a better sound system.

Music

Pop, hip-hop, K-pop, and EDM across two rooms. The second room tends toward more electronic selections.

Dress Code

Smart casual. Similar standards to Metropolis but slightly less strict. Clean jeans and a good shirt will pass.

Best For

Budget-conscious clubbers and anyone who finds Metropolis too big or impersonal.

Payment

Cash preferred. Cards accepted at the main bar with occasional processing delays.

Insider Tip

Thursday nights are the cheapest with lower cover charges and drink specials. The second room is the better musical experience on most nights. Keep your group tight and your belongings secured. Leave before the lights come on at closing to avoid the chaotic exit crush.

Full Review

Mint occupies the space between Metropolis (big, loud, intense) and Grand Khaan (safe, familiar, expat-heavy). It's a local club for local people, and foreigners are noticed but not unwelcome.

The descent into Mint follows the same UB nightclub pattern: stairs down into a basement, security check, cover charge, and then the wall of sound as you enter the main room. The space is more compact than Metropolis, which actually works in its favor. The dance floor fills faster, the energy concentrates, and the room reaches critical mass earlier in the evening.

The main room's music leans toward Mongolian pop and international hip-hop, with K-pop tracks getting some of the biggest floor reactions. The DJ reads the crowd well on good nights, building energy through the evening rather than blasting from the start. The second room offers an alternative with deeper electronic tracks, attracting the portion of the crowd that prefers beats over vocals.

Vodka table service is the standard format. Groups claim tables, order bottles, and pour their own drinks throughout the night. This communal drinking style means the intoxication level rises steadily and predictably. By 1 AM, the dance floor is a mix of joyful dancing and the kind of swaying that precedes trouble.

Mint's younger crowd means more energy but also more unpredictability. University-age drinkers with limited experience and unlimited access to cheap vodka create moments of chaos that the security staff manage with varying effectiveness.

For foreign visitors, Mint offers a genuine window into how young Mongolians spend their weekends. It's not curated, not polished, and not safe in the way that resort bars are safe. But it's real. Come with friends, watch your drinks, and experience UB nightlife as it actually exists.

The Neighborhood

On Seoul Street in the main nightlife corridor, within walking distance of Grand Khaan (3 minutes) and Metropolis (5 minutes). Late-night food stalls and 24-hour convenience stores on Seoul Street provide post-club options.

Getting There

Walk along Seoul Street from Chinggis Khaan Square (5-6 minutes) or the State Department Store (3 minutes). Taxi from any part of UB costs MNT 3,000-6,000.
