Rooftop Andares

Zapopan, Guadalajara

Rooftop Andares is the terrace bar operation on the upper level of the Andares shopping complex, positioned above the mall's restaurant wing and accessible via the internal lifts or an external staircase. The terrace faces west and south, with views over the Andares parking structures and the residential towers of northern Zapopan beyond. It's not the most dramatic rooftop in the metro area, but it's accessible, well-lit, and operates during daylight and evening hours when other rooftops haven't opened yet. The bar serves beer, cocktails, and a short wine list alongside the full food menu of the restaurant below, which is a practical advantage. Tables are covered by retractable awnings and heated on cool evenings. The crowd is a mix of mall shoppers transitioning to after-shopping drinks, couples on weekend evenings, and groups who want a rooftop experience without the formality of the hotel-based options.

Full Review

Rooftop Andares is honest about what it is: a mall rooftop bar designed to serve the Andares complex's visitor traffic with outdoor seating and a view above the retail level. The view is functional rather than iconic, with the northern Zapopan skyline and the parking structures making up most of the immediate sightline. The practical advantages are real. It opens early (noon on weekdays) when virtually every other Zapopan rooftop is closed. The food access to the restaurant below makes it a genuine dining option rather than a drinks-only venue. The retractable awnings handle rain and direct sun, which extends the usable window significantly through Guadalajara's rainy summer months. The cocktail program is competent without being ambitious. Beer is the dominant order, with Modelo and Pacifico moving fastest. The wine list is short and serviceable. The social environment shifts through the day: lunchtime families and solo shoppers in the afternoon, couples and groups in the early evening, a small late-night crowd on Fridays and Saturdays who want the outdoor air after the mall closes. It's not a destination for nightlife, but it's a reliable outdoor bar option in a zone that needs one.

The Neighborhood

Directly within the Andares complex. Andares Social Club and Lemon Grass Club are nearby for anyone wanting to move to a club format after early evening drinks.

Getting There

Enter the Andares mall and follow signage to the upper level. Accessible from the main mall entrance and the restaurant wing. Most rideshares to Andares drop at the mall's ground-level entry.
