Havana Club
Havana Club is Malta's biggest nightclub, spread across multiple floors in the heart of Paceville on St. George's Road. The main room holds over 1,000 people at capacity and runs a mainstream music policy of pop, hip-hop, and commercial dance tracks. A second room on the upper level offers R&B and old-school hits for a slightly different crowd. The club has been operating since the early 2000s and has outlasted most of its competitors through consistent investment in sound and lighting. The ground floor bar area serves as a decompression zone between the dance floors and the street. Weekend nights regularly sell out in summer, when the tourist population swells and Paceville reaches peak density. The venue's size means it absorbs large groups without feeling cramped until well past midnight. Thursday student nights offer discounted entry and drinks, drawing the language school crowd that's become a Paceville staple.
What to Expect
Walking in, you hit a wall of bass from the main room's sound system. The entrance area is dimly lit with a long bar on the left. Moving into the main room, the dance floor opens up under a ceiling of moving lights. The energy builds slowly, peaking around 1-2 AM when the room is at capacity.
High-energy, sweaty, and loud. The kind of club where the bass line is a physical sensation and conversations happen by shouting.
Pop, hip-hop, commercial dance, and EDM on the main floor. R&B and throwbacks upstairs
Smart casual. No flip-flops, no beachwear, no sportswear. Jeans and a collared shirt work fine for men. Bouncers enforce the policy on busy nights.
Groups looking for a big-room club experience with mainstream music and a mixed international crowd

Insider Tip
Arrive before midnight to skip the queue. Thursday student nights have the cheapest drinks. The upper floor R&B room is less crowded and has better air circulation.
Full Review
Havana Club is the anchor of Paceville's club scene, and it earns that position through sheer scale. The main room is the biggest dance floor on the island, with a sound system that was upgraded in 2024 and now delivers clean bass without the muddiness that plagued the old setup. The DJ booth sits above the dance floor, giving the resident DJs a view of the crowd that they use to read energy levels.
The upper floor offers a different experience. The R&B room is smaller, darker, and draws a crowd that's more interested in dancing than posing. The music skews toward 2000s and 2010s hits with current R&B mixed in. On busy nights, this room fills later than the main floor but stays packed longer.
Service at the bars is efficient considering the volume. Three bars across the venue keep wait times to 5-10 minutes even at peak. Prices are standard for Paceville, which means moderate by European club standards. The staff is professional and used to handling large international crowds.
The main criticism is that Havana Club plays it safe musically. If you want underground electronic music or live performances, look elsewhere. But for a big, reliable night out with mainstream music and a crowd that's there to dance, it's the top option on the island. The Thursday student night is the best value in Paceville.
