Zero Zero Club
Zero Zero Club is Praia's primary dance venue, a small nightclub on Rua de Lisboa that opens its doors Friday and Saturday nights to a crowd ready to move. The space is compact, maybe 150 people at full capacity, with a dance floor occupying the center, a bar along one wall, and a DJ booth elevated at one end. The sound system punches above the venue's size, filling the room with bass that you feel in your chest from the entrance. Music programming rotates between kizomba, zouk, afrobeats, and commercial pop, with local DJs who read the crowd and adjust. The lighting is basic but effective: colored spots, a mirror ball, and enough darkness to let the dancing take priority. The crowd is young, local, and there specifically to dance. Foreign visitors are rare enough to attract attention but welcome enough to be pulled onto the dance floor. Entry runs CVE 500 on regular nights and up to CVE 1,000 for special events or guest DJs. The bar serves beer, spirits, and basic cocktails without ceremony.
What to Expect
A dark, bass-heavy room where dancing is the point. The door charge gets you in; drinks are separate. The dance floor fills from the center outward as the night progresses. By 1 AM on Saturday, movement is shoulder to shoulder.
Dark, loud, and dance-focused. The energy builds steadily from midnight to a peak around 2 AM. It's genuinely fun if you're willing to dance.
Kizomba, zouk, afrobeats, dancehall, reggaeton, and commercial pop. The DJ blends genres throughout the night, with kizomba blocks generating the most energy.
Clean and presentable. Jeans and a button shirt for men, dresses or smart tops for women. No beachwear or flip-flops.
Dancers, night owls, anyone wanting to experience Cape Verdean club culture firsthand
Cash only for entry. Bar accepts cash only. Bring escudos.

Insider Tip
Don't arrive before midnight; the club is empty until then. The dance floor peaks between 1 and 3 AM. If you can dance kizomba, you'll have an incredible time. If you can't, stand near the bar and watch until someone offers to teach you, which usually takes about 15 minutes.
Full Review
Zero Zero Club is what Praia has instead of a club district. This single venue carries the weight of the city's dance nightlife, and on a good Saturday night, it delivers.
The entrance on Rua de Lisboa is discreet, marked by a small sign and a door attendant collecting the CVE 500 cover. Inside, the room is roughly 10 by 20 meters, with the DJ booth at the far end, a bar running along the right wall, and the dance floor filling everything else. Ceiling height is low, which concentrates the sound and heat.
The sound system is the venue's biggest investment and it shows. Bass response is clean and powerful, and the DJ uses it well. A typical Saturday night progression starts with commercial pop and afrobeats around midnight, shifts to zouk and reggaeton as the floor fills, and lands on kizomba blocks from 1 AM onward. These kizomba sets are where the energy peaks. Cape Verdean dancers are technically skilled, and watching couples move through complex patterns in a packed space is worth the cover charge alone.
The bar serves standard fare: Strela and imported beer (CVE 250-350), rum and coke, vodka mixes, and basic cocktails (CVE 400-600). Service is functional rather than polished. You queue, you order, you return to the floor. Nobody nurses a drink here; the dancing dehydrates you fast.
The crowd is 80% local, aged roughly 20 to 35, with a slight male majority. Foreign visitors who can dance integrate quickly. Those who can't still enjoy themselves, but the social currency of this venue is movement, not conversation. The volume makes talking nearly impossible anyway.
For comparison, Quintal da Musica offers live music and cultural depth, while Zero Zero offers pure dance energy. They serve different purposes on the same night. Many locals hit Quintal early, drink at Kebra Cabana, and finish at Zero Zero.

Getting There
