Hamburg's Hanseatic Oktoberfest

Hamburg runs the Hamburger Dom funfair three times per year at Heiligengeistfeld in St. Pauli: the Frühlings Dom in March-April, the Sommer Dom from July 24 to August 23 in 2026, and the Winter Dom in November. The Sommer Dom is the largest single event, drawing around 8 million attendees over its 4-week run. Beer halls, food stalls, carnival rides, and the Hamburger-style beer-hall atmosphere on a Hanseatic scale.

The Hamburger Dom is not strictly Oktoberfest; it's Hamburg's signature funfair. But the Sommer Dom delivers the same product (Mass beer, Bavarian and Hanseatic food, brass bands, fairground atmosphere) at scale, with the advantage that it overlaps no part of the calendar with Munich's Oktoberfest. Travelers who can't get Munich reservations for September often substitute Hamburg's Sommer Dom in late July or August.

Wiesn Hamburg Tent

Hamburg's parallel Bavarian Oktoberfest tent runs from September 19 to October 4 at Heiligengeistfeld (same location as the Dom). Hofbräu beer service, brass bands, lederhosen-dirndl encouraged dress code, Mass beer EUR 12-14. The smaller, more local-Hamburger alternative to Munich. Free entry; walk-up tables.

Reeperbahn Oktoberfest Crawl

Hamburg's main nightlife strip (the Reeperbahn) runs Oktoberfest-themed bar nights during the September 19 to October 4 window. Mass beer specials at the larger Reeperbahn beer halls. The unique Hamburg combo: Bavarian beer-tent in the afternoon at Heiligengeistfeld, Reeperbahn club crawl in the evening. The 5-minute walk between the two makes this the most flexible Oktoberfest itinerary of any city.

Speicherstadt Oktoberfest

Hamburg's historic UNESCO-listed warehouse district runs a smaller Oktoberfest-themed weekend event in late September with beer tents on the canals. Local-Hamburger crowd, less touristy. Free entry; Mass beer EUR 11-13.
