Transport
No metro in Phuket. Bolt and Grab with 2x to 4x surge. Tuk-tuks at fixed (high) Patong rates. Patong Beach Road closes from 18:00; allow extra time. Most NYE activity in Patong is walkable within itself.
Costs
Hotels in Patong THB 3,500-12,000 per night, around 2.5x off-peak. Bangla Road club covers THB 1,500-4,500. Beach club packages (Kata Rocks, Café del Mar) THB 6,500-15,000. Beer at a Patong bar THB 120-200.
Safety on the night
Pickpocketing on Bangla Road is constant. Drink spiking at the smaller Patong bars is a documented risk. Jet ski scams (the operator claims you damaged the ski) spike from December 28; do not rent a jet ski during the NYE week. The 'gold ring' and 'broken phone' scams hit Patong Beach Road specifically.
Dress
Tropical (25 to 27°C overnight). Smart casual at the rooftop. Bangla Road is anything-goes. The high-end pool clubs (Kata Rocks, Café del Mar) enforce smart resort wear.
Ticketing
Bangla Road club tables through Line. Kata Rocks via the resort's site. FantaSea and Carnival Magic via Klook or directly.

Phuket's NYE Splits Into Three Zones

Phuket's New Year's Eve runs across three very different beaches with distinct vibes. Patong is the loud, packed, club-and-fireworks zone with the largest beach fireworks display in Thailand and the Bangla Road street party. Kata-Karon is the quieter, more polished beach-club alternative with Kata Rocks and Café del Mar Phuket. Bang Tao and Surin run the high-end resort hotel galas (Banyan Tree, Anantara, Twinpalms, Amanpuri) where you pay the most but get the most polished experience.

Patong Beach runs the biggest free fireworks display in Thailand: multiple boat-based barges fire simultaneously offshore along the 3 km beach from midnight. Around 150,000 to 250,000 spectators on the sand from 21:00 onward. Bangla Road, the main club strip parallel to the beach, closes to traffic from 20:00 and becomes a pedestrian street party. Illuzion (one of Asia's largest clubs at 5,000 capacity), Tiger Disco, Hollywood, and the smaller bars all run NYE packages at THB 1,500 to THB 4,500 cover with one drink and an open bar. The strip stays packed shoulder-to-shoulder from 22:00 to 04:00.

Kata Rocks Alternative

For something other than Patong chaos, Kata Rocks runs the high-end rooftop pool club NYE at THB 8,500 to THB 15,000 per person: multi-course dinner, premium open bar, DJ residency, and infinity-pool fireworks views over the Andaman Sea. Café del Mar Phuket on Mai Khao Beach runs a similar package at THB 6,500 to THB 12,000. The Marina Phuket Yacht Club runs a NYE cruise along the western coast at THB 9,500 with multi-course dinner.

Resort Hotel Galas

Bang Tao and Surin beaches concentrate the luxury resort galas. Banyan Tree's Banyan Tree Lounge NYE at THB 22,000 per person. Anantara Phuket's all-inclusive at THB 18,000. Twinpalms Phuket's HQ Beach Lounge at THB 15,000. Each runs a multi-course beachfront dinner, live music, midnight fireworks from the resort beachfront, and full open bar. Hotels run THB 18,000 to THB 45,000 per night.

Practical Phuket NYE Numbers

Hotels in Patong THB 3,500 to THB 12,000 per night for December 31, around 2.5x off-peak. Kata-Karon 20 to 30 percent cheaper. Bang Tao luxury resorts THB 18,000 to THB 45,000. Book by October. Bolt and Grab with 2x to 4x surge; tuk-tuks at the well-known fixed (high) Patong rates. The Patong Beach Road closure forces detours. Late December overnight temperatures at 25 to 27°C; light tropical clothing.

Where to stay in Phuket during New Year's Eve
