Cordoba's University-City NYE
Cordoba's New Year's Eve runs cheaper, smaller, and more local than Buenos Aires's. The Argentine tradition still applies (long family dinner from 22:00 to 24:00, midnight champagne and fireworks at home, then heading out from 01:30 to 02:00), but Cordoba's crowd is heavily Cordobese rather than the porteno-international mix in Buenos Aires. International tourists are under 5 percent of the NYE attendance.

Nueva Cordoba and the University Scene
The Nueva Cordoba district, the university-heavy area south of central, concentrates the youth NYE scene. ICE Bar, Khalama, Carreras, and the smaller bars on Avenida Hipolito Yrigoyen run NYE packages with covers ARS 18,000 to ARS 55,000 (USD 18 to USD 55) including open bar packages. The crowd skews 20 to 30 year old Cordobese university students.
The Cerro de las Rosas district (the more upscale northern neighborhood) runs a parallel scene with the slightly older crowd: bar-and-dinner format at Cerro Bar, Babylon, and Carreras Cerro. Less club-heavy, more dinner-then-late-bar.
Carlos Paz Lake Alternative
Villa Carlos Paz (35 km from Cordoba on Lago San Roque) is the resort-area alternative. The lakeside clubs and resort hotels run higher-end NYE packages: Pueblo Carlos Paz, Howard Johnson Carlos Paz, Portal del Lago Hotel run all-inclusive NYE galas at ARS 65,000 to ARS 180,000 per person. The lake-cruise NYE on the Cordoba 1 boat departs at 21:00 for a 4-hour dinner cruise with fireworks viewing. The 45-60 minute drive each way and the gridlocked return at 03:00 are the trade-offs.
