Carrer del Parlament has quietly become one of Poble Sec's main social streets, and Bar Calders is a big reason why. The bar itself is unpretentious: a simple interior with a long bar counter, wine bottles on shelves, and just enough seating. The terrace is where the action happens.
The vermouth is the thing to order first. Served on tap in small glasses, it's herbal, slightly bitter, and pairs perfectly with the olives and chips that come alongside. A glass costs less than a coffee at most tourist spots. The natural wine list is thoughtful and rotates regularly, with bottles from small Spanish and French producers that you won't find at the supermarket.
I spent a Saturday afternoon on the terrace starting around 5 PM. By 6 PM every outdoor table was taken and people were standing along the curb with glasses in hand. The crowd was almost entirely local: parents with strollers, young couples, groups of friends catching up. Nobody spoke English at the tables around me. That tells you something about the bar's character.
Bar Calders works best in the early evening as a pre-dinner stop. It's not designed for late nights, and the energy fades after 10 PM as people move on to dinner or other bars. Pair it with a walk down Carrer Blai for pintxos afterward.
