Olivia Jones Bar at Große Freiheit 35 is impossible to miss. The exterior is bright, the music spills onto the street, and the drag performers visible through the windows set the tone before you walk in. Inside, the room is compact and dimly lit, with a small stage area and a bar that dominates one wall. Decorations are camp by design, glitter and neon and memorabilia.

The drag shows run on roughly 30-minute loops, so you'll catch one regardless of when you arrive. The performers are experienced and work the room well, pulling audience members into bits with practiced ease. The crowd is almost always mixed: hen parties, curious tourists, LGBTQ+ locals, and couples exploring St. Pauli together. Drinks are straightforward and priced at standard Reeperbahn rates. Don't expect craft cocktails.

Compared to other Große Freiheit bars, Olivia Jones stands out by being genuinely welcoming. While much of the street trades on edginess or adult entertainment, this bar operates on fun. It's not trying to shock anyone. The entertainment is professional, the door is open to everyone, and the atmosphere stays upbeat even at 2am.

Free entry doesn't mean everything is free. Staff will encourage you toward ticketed mini-shows and tip collection rounds. Budget accordingly. The best strategy is to stop in for one or two drinks, catch a show loop, and move on. It works perfectly as part of a longer Große Freiheit crawl rather than a destination for the whole evening.
