Yok Yok
Yok Yok is a cocktail bar on the northern stretch of Berger Strasse that occupies a converted ground-floor retail space with exposed brick, low industrial lighting, and a bar that runs most of the rear wall. It holds roughly 45 people inside without reaching uncomfortable density, and the layout puts the bar at the center of the social geography rather than as a functional edge. The cocktail menu changes every few months and tends toward classic constructions with one or two unusual ingredients sourced from small European producers. Staff are knowledgeable about the menu without being performatively so. Yok Yok draws a mixed crowd of Bornheim residents, after-work professionals who've come from the city center, and occasional visitors following a recommendation. It's one of the better-executed cocktail bars in the neighborhood without the Bahnhofsviertel premium.

Insider Tip
The seasonal menu changes roughly every six to eight weeks; ask what's new when you arrive. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are calmer than the weekend and the bar staff have more time to talk through the menu. The non-alcoholic options are taken seriously here, which is worth knowing if you're mixing drinking and non-drinking guests.
Full Review
Yok Yok is the kind of cocktail bar that improves a neighborhood's reputation disproportionately to its size. It seats 45 people, it's on a stretch of Berger Strasse that most tourists don't reach, and it doesn't advertise beyond word of mouth and its own social presence. The result is a bar that's full on weekends without being overwhelming.
The drinks program is the main reason to be here. The menu is structured around classic families (sours, stirred spirit-forward, long drinks) with seasonal modifications rather than novelty for its own sake. A Negroni in autumn might include a small-batch Italian vermouth that isn't available commercially in Germany. The seasonal specials are the kitchen's way of showing what they're thinking about, and they're worth trying before defaulting to a classic.
The space is well-conceived for its function. The bar is long enough that you can sit at it comfortably for the evening rather than fighting for a stool. The tables and booth seating toward the rear give groups a more private option. The lighting is low enough to feel intimate without being the kind of place where you need to check your phone to read the menu.
For Bornheim, Yok Yok represents the upper end of the cocktail bar category. Compared to the Bahnhofsviertel's top bars it's priced a euro or two lower per drink without the craft quality dropping. That differential adds up over an evening.
