Drift Bar
Drift Bar occupies the beach level of the Baha Mar resort, with direct sand access and an unobstructed view of Cable Beach and the ocean beyond. The setup transitions from daytime beach bar to evening lounge as the sun drops. During the day, the focus is on frozen cocktails, local Kalik beer, and food service for beach-goers. After sunset, fire pits light up along the bar's perimeter, the music shifts from background to foreground, and the crowd changes from swimsuit-clad sunbathers to couples and groups starting their evening. The bar counter runs along a covered section, with open seating extending onto the sand. Capacity fluctuates with the format, holding around 120 people comfortably in the evening configuration. The cocktail program is resort-standard: competently mixed but not attempting the craft approach of Monkey Bar. Frozen daiquiris and rum punches are the volume sellers.
What to Expect
A beach-level bar where the sand meets the resort. Daytime is casual and sun-focused. The evening transformation, with fire pits, ambient lighting, and a changed soundtrack, creates a genuinely pleasant atmosphere for drinks before dinner or the casino.
Relaxed and scenic. The fire pits after sunset add warmth and atmosphere to what's already a beautiful beach setting.
Chilled tropical and lounge music during the day. More rhythmic Caribbean sounds (soca, reggae) in the evening, still at lounge volume.
Beach casual during the day (swimwear fine). Resort casual in the evening: cover-ups, sundresses, shorts and a clean shirt.
Sunset drinks, couples, beach-to-evening transitions, resort guests wanting a drink without leaving the sand, casual pre-dinner cocktails
Cards accepted. Baha Mar guests can charge to their room.

Full Review
Drift Bar's value is almost entirely locational. The bar itself is competent but unremarkable. What makes it worth visiting is the setting: Cable Beach at sunset, with fire pits lighting up as the sky changes color and the sound of waves providing a bass line under the music.
The daytime iteration is a functional beach bar. Cold beer, frozen drinks, and simple food delivered to your lounger or at the bar counter. The service is efficient by resort standards, and the prices are what you'd expect from a property of this caliber. Nothing surprising, nothing disappointing.
The evening transition is where Drift earns its place in Cable Beach's nightlife lineup. As the sun drops, the bar's character shifts. Fire pits along the perimeter create pools of warm light on the sand. The music volume increases slightly, shifting from background to something you notice and appreciate. The cocktail menu becomes more relevant as people ordering drinks are now choosing flavors rather than just seeking cold refreshment.
The sunset hour, roughly 5-7 PM, is the peak experience. Getting a fire pit seat during this window requires either timing or luck. The combination of fading light, warm sand, a rum-based cocktail, and the ocean stretching to the horizon creates a moment that photographs well and feels even better.
After dark, Drift serves as a transition point. People have a drink or two here before moving to the casino, Bond Nightclub, or one of the resort's restaurants. The bar stays open until midnight but the energy peaks earlier and fades as the crowd migrates indoors.
The cocktails are mixed capably but without distinction. The frozen daiquiris and rum punches are the safe orders and taste exactly like you'd expect. The bartenders can handle standard cocktail requests but this isn't a place to test their creativity. The menu is designed for volume and consistency rather than craft.
Drift's limitation is the price-to-quality ratio on drinks. Resort markup applies to everything, and a Kalik beer at BSD 10-12 is a reminder that you're paying for the view as much as the beverage.
